Since the Georgia Department of Education released the list of schools participating in the 2014 Annual Parent Involvement Survey for Georgia Families Raising a Student with a Disability, administrators and staff around the state have begun the work of distributing and tracking survey returns.
Schools are also looking back at previous years’ survey data to examine the areas of Highest Satisfaction and Least Satisfied to identify what’s working and what areas need improvement for a school district’s parent engagement initiatives.
Georgia’s parent mentors create parent engagement plans which focus on utilizing the annual survey to track and boost family engagement ( IDEA Indicator#8 Improve the percentage of parents of children receiving special education services who report that schools encourage parent involvement to improve results for students with disabilities).
